Registration on Web Sites |
|
More and more newspaper web sites are requiring registration, including the user's name and address, in return for free access to articles. While it's undeniably a nuisance, you can keep things simpler for yourself by being careful to use the exact same info for every site and keeping cookies enabled in your web browser. It was only a matter of time before the media started trying to "mine" demographic data on the visitors to their web sites.
Having a good clipboard enhancement program helps a lot, too, so that you can simply copy and paste. For Windows, I recommend Clipmate, an enhancer par excellence. At $34.95 it's pricey, but once you try the (full-featured) trial version for a few days you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. And no, the site maintainer does not derive any profit from his endorsement.
