Deadline for submission of qualifying offers by clubs to their restricted free agents whose contracts have expired and to whom they desire to retain a right of first refusal/compensation (i.e., RFAs). Deadline for clubs to submit offer of minimum salary to their players with fewer than three seasons of free agency credit whose contracts have expired (i.e., ERFAs). Veteran free agency signing period begins (9:01 p.m. PST, or, if you prefer, 12:01 a.m. EST on Feb. 29). Trading period begins. |

Clubs must be in compliance with the salary cap ($116.729 million for 2008) by 4:00 p.m. EST. Deadline for clubs to exercise options for 2008 on all players who have option clauses in their 2007 contracts. Expiration date of all player contracts due to expire after 2007 season. |

Teams may start voluntary off-season workout programs. |
