Putting aside glitz, when it comes to depth of statistics, no site can match NFL.com. This makes sense: as you might imagine, the league employs a cadre of statistical and mathematical whizzes who track and report on everything you always wanted to know—and perhaps even a few you didn't—about a given game.
So, here are the relevant links to the three primary NFL.com statistical reports for the past game, plus two others.
- Gamecenter: Game Stats - the typical (individual) game stats, in depth
- Gamecenter: Box Score
- Gamecenter: Drive Charts - the drive charts for each possession give the fan
a nice feel for the flow of a game.
- Gamebook (game summary) (beginning with the 2007 season, requires
the free Adobe Reader)
- personnel stuff, including who dressed for the game and who didn't; the starting lineups for both
sides; of those who dressed, who got in the game and who didn't; the officials, weather
conditions, and playing surface; complete stats in text form (pages of them!); and lots of
additional arcane tidbits to interest a trivia freak like this observer. Note: normally appears
about 20-30 minutes after the game concludes.
- Full Play-by-Play - What?? Gamebook wasn't enough for you? Or maybe you want
to check what happened on a particular play or sequence of plays, and/or you don't have access to a VCR . .
. Well, look no further; the link title says it all.
